The Outbound Voice Traffic Reduction Scheme in the Push - To - Talk Environment

چکیده
The push-to-talk technology provides a walkie-talkie like service for group communication. In this paper, we propose an efficient outbound voice traffic reduction scheme in the push-to-talk environment when network congestion happens. The Open Mobile Alliancepush-to-talk over cellular (OMA PoC) architecture, the standard for this kind of group communication, is used as a base network in this paper. The PoC server plays an important role in copying and forwarding of received RTP media packets and the outbound voice traffic of this PoC Server tends to be affected by other traffic when network congestion happens. We extend the functionality of the Controlling PoC Server to accommodate the location information of PoC Clients by co-operating the location management server, which also communicates with the location reporting and packet forwarding agent node. By minimizing the outbound voice traffic of the PoC server, we improve the overall performance in terms of the end-to-end quality which is derived from the E-model. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing PoC scheme when network congestion happens.

Performance Improvement of Expanded Integrated Local Area Networks (RESEARCH NOTE)
In Local Area Networks (LAN) connected together by bridges, flow control and smooth traffic in the network is very important. However, congestion at bridges can cause intensive loss of received frames. In addition, the received frames are thrown away and have to be retransmitted by the source station, which causes more congestion and massive reduction in the overall network throughput. The netw...
متن کاملA Two-Threshold Guard Channel Scheme for Minimizing Blocking Probability in Communication Networks
In this paper, we consider the call admission problem in cellular network with two classes of voice users. In the first part of paper, we introduce a two-threshold guard channel policy and study its limiting behavior under the stationary traffic. Then we give an algorithm for finding the optimal number of guard channels. In the second part of this paper, we give an algorithm, which minimizes th...

In this paper, loss probabilities and steady state probabilities of data packets for an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network are investigated under the buffer division and push-out schemes. Data packets are classified in classes k which arrive in Poisson fashion to the service facility and are served with general service rate under buffer division scheme, finite buffer space N is divided in...
متن کاملDynamic Inbound Rate Adjustment Scheme for Virtualized Cloud Data Centers
This paper proposes a rate adjustment scheme for inbound data traffic on a virtualized host. Most prior studies on network virtualization have only focused on outbound traffic, yet many cloud applications rely on inbound traffic performance. The proposed scheme adjusts the inbound rates of virtual network interfaces dynamically in proportion to the bandwidth demands of the virtual machines. key...
متن کاملTwo-step hierarchical scheme for detecting detoured attacks to the web server
In this paper, we propose an improved detection scheme to protect a Web server from detoured attacks, which disclose confidential/private information or disseminate malware codes through outbound traffic. Our scheme has a two-step hierarchy, whose detection methods are complementary to each other. The first step is a signature-based detector that uses Snort and detects the marks of disseminatin...
